Openings Mitigation Bank – Phase I, 2023.
The 300+ acre Opening’s Wetland Mitigation Bank Complex consists of a combination of permittee responsible mitigation and two active wetland mitigation Banks. The Phase I bank consists of 87 acres of high quality emergent wetland and buffer. The recently opened Phase II bank consists of 90.4 acres of forested and scrub-shrub wetland and upland buffer.
Phase I and II are currently open and Emergent, Forested and Scrub-Shrub Credits are available!
The Opening’s Wetland Mitigation Bank was authorized by federal permits LRE-2009-00129-102 and LRE-2019-01691-102. The Interagency Review Team (IRT) consisted of the Detroit District, United States Army Corps of Engineers (Chair-LRE) , Louisville District, United States Army Corps of Engineers (LRL), the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).
